Uhh, see also Nietszche.

I hate the whole ideas that all of them and therefore don't like a lot of her stuff, but she is basically taking them and elaborating through her novels. Everything we do is really just standing on the shoulders of our forefathers, and she's doing the exact same thing.

So by your definition, we're all really copycats in one way or another.

We see farther because we stand on the shoulders of giants.

I was starting to feel like I was the one who thought Ayn is full of crap.

No philosopher has ever started from scratch. It would be pointless because you'd just be covering old ground and never discovering anything novel. That's the way it is in all disciplines. You go to college, learn all there is to know in a field, and then build on to that pyramid things that have never been thought of before. If all physicists started their careers by rolling balls down wooden ramps to figure out gravity do you think we would have ever gotten to quantum physics?

Was this supposed to annoy me, or something?

Because, quite frankly, I read the APUSH chapter, too. :D
