I didn't get my Stepfather anything for Fathers' Day for the first time in my life.

And it feels So Good.

I'm so glad that my step-parent never tried in any way to be a replacement. I always catch myself when I almost say mom instead of her name and it would be a completely weird taboo if I said anything at all to her on mother's day.

I suppose I'm lucky though, that I still have my real mom to be celebrating when a lot of people with step parents don't. It's sweet, foolish, noble, misguided, tragic, and so very human that so many still feel loyalty to their parents that have disappeared or died.

Back to the op, just make sure your symbolic gesture (or lack there of) is directed out of love for your real dad rather than hate for this new one.

why did you even comment if thats all your going to say anon4? Its pretty pointless to correct a comment when your not even adding anything.
