depends entirely on your relationship with them. usually not.

eg. do you expect them to be with you 24/7?

Carlie H. was my winter formal "date" sophomore year.

As soon as we walked in, she ditched me for her cooler friends. :D

I suppose this would be a really tragic story if a) I were actually a boy or b) I didn't ditch her to dance with my friends at precisely the same moment.

Haha, I went to prom last year with Nano, and she pretty much ditched me.

Oh, well. No hard feelings. I don't really care, and I honestly mean that.

But yeah, it really depends on your relationship with the person. If said person is your boyfriend/girlfriend, then yes, you really are expected to be around them for the vast majority of the time. But then again, since they are said boyfriend/girlfriend, you probably don't mind.

If it's just a one time date to the dance, thing, then no, not really. I mean, it's important I think to pay attention to them, but you certainly don't need to be around them all the time, methinks. It's just good manners. But if you are just becoming clingy, that's not so cool. I feel like I'm rambling now, so I'll stop.

if you're just going as friends or as a one time date and they go to your school then it's okay to go talk to other people as long as you talk to them occasionally.

if they go to another school then they won't really know people so while you don't have to cling to them, leaving them alone for a very long time is probably not the best idea.

just don't completley ditch them. if you're in a real boyfriend/girlfriend relationship then yes you can't really ditch them.
