Indifferent she seems,
Aloof in her beguilement.
Somehow I am vexed

That I find myself looking,
Hoping for another smile.

Gosh, it's like Haiku Night...

odd.

Unless I have somehow lost my ability to count syllables, and I would like to think that I am very good at it seeing as I do it every day in Latin, I am not seeing how that is in any way a Haiku.

Or maybe the definition of Haiku has changed.

A haiku is 7-5-7, 7-7

I'm pretty sure this fits, though I suppose "beguilement" and "indifferent" techincally have 4 syllables apiece... they're not pronounced that way.

It takes some poetic license... but... that's why it's poetry.

er... as for the 7-5-7, 7-7 thing... that is one form of a haiku. I'm pretty sure there are other, more extended formats as well.

i understand this completely.

The most general haiku is 5-7-5.

ok, bringing focus away from # of sylibals.
the movement of this short poetry would be a great jumping off point for a short story.
and it is pleasing to the ear when read alowed
the writer is really talented.
