what does permalink mean?

permalink is a high grade low carbon industrial strength steel used in the early 1900s and late 1800s to make railway ties and heavy duty chains. This material fell in popularity due to rising labor cost and the invention of the arbor press which made it easier to manufacture stainless and drop forge steel.

On Tangst, the Permalink link at the bottom of every Tangst post lets you see comments in a "permanent" archive form (ie. with the pretty Tangst template).

The benefit is that if Blogger goes down for maintenance (as has happened in the past), no comments can be made, but comments can be viewed using the Permalink feature.
