Umm ya, because you were in that house that night right? I love people who can presume that the players were innocent or guilty based on a sampling of the facts, some which may or may not be true. How about you let the judicial process work itself out?
I'm not going to pretend that the lacrosse players were completely innocent - after all, there was underage drinking, they did hire a stripper, etc.
That said, this is starting to look more and more like the hooker is just trying to extort money from Duke and its students. There is evidence that the stripper was just as drunk as everyone else, and that there is no way in hell she can be called a credible witness. Coupled with the fact that all of the DNA tests came back negative - I'd say that they're at least innocent of rape.
And if they are, man is that DA screwed.
The students hired strippers and participated in illegal consumption of alchohol. They refused to cooperate with police. They *gasp* refused to talk with the media.
The DNA tests all came back negative, there are numerous police (and other) witness reports that the woman was totally drunk/wasted, and nobody was even talking about rape until long after she'd been arrested for public drunkness and distress.
I never considered it a credible case to begin with.
Everyone puts way too much stock into DNA.
It's starting to sounds like these guys are innocent of rape, but at least we got their unresponsible coach fired and brought out all their disgusting charges into the light. The only thing worse than people being douchebags is people being rich douchebags and expecting their rich daddies to get them off.
Duke needs to take its shit seriously, and I'm glad that the rape case is starting people to question things.
Souldn't they -all- go to jail for underage drinking and hiring the stripper in the first place? If only for a month or so.
Two sealed indictments are handed up in the Duke University lacrosse rape investigation, a source tells CNN.
Or, officially: No lacrosse indictments yet.
They may very well be sealed, but that's the nature of the court. Few know for certain, and none will be corroborated.
There are plenty of ways to find evidence of sexual assault or rape. However, no evidence that supports the woman has been focused on, besides her testimony.
Back to the point another person made: she was piss-shit drunk/crunk/wasted. How the hell does that make her assertion of guilt worth anything?
^Sorry, but being drunk in now way equals magical amnesia. Look at the facts: A stripper is hired illegaly by a team of rowdy students. They are all drinking underage and when the stripper leaves the party she ends up in a hospital with wounds on her body and a report that she was raped. So what if they didn't find DNA, Duke kids are rich enough to afford condoms, right?
It's just a shame that this story had to be politicized and made into a race issue. In the end the it's only going to cause a wider rift between the races and worst of all it may prevent the real truth from coming out in a court of law. I hope justice is served regardless of who's telling the truth and I think the media should just stay out of it.
Sorry, but being drunk in now way equals magical amnesia.
Unfortunately, though, it does for a jury.
The question here is whether there was actually a crime committed, or if it was just a grossly irresponsible adolescent act of bad judgement.
Me, I'm inclined to believe the latter.
