^ Periods have a distinctive smell? I mean, everybody knows the urine smell, or the stopped-up-with-so-much-shit- -it-would-choke-a-monkey smell... but period smell? Wouldn't that really just be blood, and unless you're a shark, or unless there's a torrential downpour onto the floor... I highly doubt anybody would smell that.
The bear thing is completely a myth by the way. I went backpacking this summer and we learned allll about bears. But periods do smell bad, especially if you don't use tampons. It's not just normal blood that comes out, it's the lining inside the uterus that builds up to cushion a potential baby. That's why, if you get preg, you don't have your period, because they baby needs it. Aaaanyways, it's really different from blood that might bleed from say, your arm, and it's smelly and gross.
OP, I may have just convinced you that you would rather not meet more of us gross bleeding people. Sorry!

That is a damn lie. As a man that has cleaned both men's and women's restrooms as part of my life saving duty (yeah, I'm a "lifeguard"), the men's is usually extremely clean. There's pee on the urinals and maybe on the floor right in front of them, and it smells a lil like pee but I mean, we accept that.
The women's bathroom on the other hand, is DISGUSTING. And we get so many more complaints about it, and by that I mean we get like at least 3 a shift (and 0 the entire summer about the males.)
