i was talking with some people today over who they're voting for for senior class president, and i just got really pissed off. I would say somethign like "well you should vote for so and so, because so and so.." and they'd be like "haha, well too bad StuCo doesn't actually matter, so i'm voting for so and so"

Please don't get pissed off regarding StuCo elections. In the grand scheme of things, they really don't mean anything. And you know it. And so do Keri and Bunsree. And that other person who's running that I don't remember because she's not constantly reminding me in Latin.
well, still, i mean it means something. it's not like what senior council does has no affect on us, they still do some things, granted not as much as other class councils, but still it's important.
wth its retarded ppl who say stuco doesn't mean anything, but when ppl don't do something, or if a random machine at school doesn't work, they come to us. stuco can only do certain things, and most of them revolve around social/service events. stuco makes a big impact on social events around enloe: homecoming, pep rally, diversity week, variety show, winter formal, prom, charity week, food drive, and soo many other things. its ignorant ppl who don't believe in the cause they're fighting for, and aaron please do not say i don't care, because i really do. and when you say they really don't mean anything, you should see what some ppl do and how they devote so much to their students, like sacrifice sports and soo much time for ppl, and all the students can do is complain. you try planning prom with 5 aps, and im not complaining, i love it, but others need to stop complaining and do something about stuff they care about, which is why i want to be president, cuz i love my class.

thats great that you're voting for your friend, but its basically pointless trying to convince others who have their hearts set against stuco, to tell them to pick the person that will make things happen. and i wuz venting in the sense that im mad at the ppl who say stuco doesn't matter yet constantly complain about why the seniors didn't do stuff. i know ppl want a great sr year, and if ppl have a positive attitude, it'll happen. and most ppl know me well enough that i don't mean the harsh things i say things in frustration and anger. and thats great you're votign for keri, he's a cool kid. so im sorry if i offended anyone.
these small school elections somewhat model the actual US democratic elections, and if the sense of apathy i'm feeling from the school election models people's real feelings on voting... then... well.....
haha. Student Council is not very important. The most trenchant evidence of is that more than half of the junior class does not know who the junior class president is.
The second thing about student council is its elitism. For a club that is supposed to represent the entirety of Enloe, the president of the executive board is a position that is closed to the vote of the general student body.
Yes, student council performs many necessary social functions, but in all honesty either candidate will accomplish those tasks. Us peons who are outside of the circle probably will not remember the results of the election, let alone care whether they do a good job or not.
The only function of student council that matters, is prom, and thats the junior class council. So the senior class council REALLY doesn't matter.
I for one would appreciate it if all of you student council types would realize your insignificance, and tone down your rhetoric and your campaigning. Because honestly, nobody cares.
P.S. Who has ever heard of anyone going to Student Council about any problem around campus? or Student council "fighting" for some causes?
