i think it's actually pretty attractive, but besides that it's really hard to just say that an entire subculture sucks...

I love emo music. I don't know why people hate it.

And I really don't know why people say they hate emo and then turn around and like death cab.

I find that the "emo" concept is fantastic. Furthermore, the negative response to emo echoes another time of creative emotion that went under heavy fire:the era of the Romantics. Brilliant writers such and Lord Byron, Shelly, and naturally John Keats were both praised and condemned for their incomparable eloquence in defining the human spirit. So, good ladies and gentlemen, I would urge you to consider the radiance of truly talented emo artists before cursing the entire race.

maverick dont try to prove stuff like that. its just an opinon....ok?

"scene"? whatever. you're emo.

Emo is alright. But please don't compare emo to Keats. That's just plain sick.

I like emo music too, Pchis. I can't even explain why. But my iPod is filled with it.

Good posters, I assure you that I am trying to do nothing less of supporting my own opinion.

I would also kindly add that, unless you would like a very lengthy and comprehensive retort, it would be wise not to undermine John Keats.

"scene" =/= emo.

"scene" = Mr. Keister.

The end.

I think emo dress is kinda annoying, not all the time but it seems like so many do it to fit into that culture. so many peopl claim they are anitconformist so that they will fit into the crowd of anitconformist. Just wear what feels right leather and chains in the summer is not comfortable.

I find emo boys unnervingly attractive.
I think it's the eyeliner.

'tis true. emo sucks. and honestly, who wants to hear about other people's angst? whether you cut yourself or not should be a personal matter, not something to broadcast anonymously to other anonymous people over the web.

haha, who wants to hear about other people's angst? Everyone on this site, apparently. Otherwise, why would we even be here?

Emo clothes don't bother me... nor does the music, as seldom as I listen to it.

What bothers me is that the culture of it is about "tortured" and "underprivileged" teenagers who, coincidentally, are generally middle - upper middle class kids who want to rebel without doing anything that would actually have any impact on anything. "I want to die" well of course it's easy to say. Emo kids don't actually commit suicide. That wouldn't make them Emo... that would make them suicidal.

Not that Emo kids don't also have feelings... go hug an Emo! Of course, don't be surprised if he/she tells you to rip out his/her heart and feed it to crows.

So... in that "Romanticism" attempted to capture human feeling, Emo captures... well... whiny overprivilged teenagers with the cash to dress in designer "non-conformist" clothing... the comparison just isn't fair, Maverick.
