I will never live up to the standards that I set for myself. I know this. I know that they're impossibly high. But they're still there.

sometimes higher expectations are good, but you'll achieve higher things, even if you never attain your goal.

Now I may be mean or a jackass and probably don't have a lot of faith in people, but I'm generally quite optimistic.
I agree that high goals are good, but I agree with tinted in those cheesy phrases, because they're just so...ugh.
