I feel like Enloe has gotten more typical. More people seem to be concerned with being cool rather than that carefree be yourself spirit it used to possess. Enloe was a one of a kind high school without as many clicks and social hierarchies that appears to be forming now.

Well, at least it doesn't have any
cliques...

I was thinking the same thing today actually. I felt like the SR class isn't that cliquey and keeping the tradition. The Jr class for the most part is doing a good job of that in my opinion, yet there are a few more people taht want to be "cool" - however it is not cliquey or anything like that. I feel like the Soph class is the one who is most cliquey and broughton-esque, many of them have cars, i see more of them wearing the expensive designer cloths, I see more of them speak loudly and boastfully- the way that i associate with insincerity (sp). I have no idea about the freshmen class.

this is all my opinion of course, forgive me if i am dead wrong.

Enloe has always been typical. Get your fist out of your ass. You're exclusive with your friends, and don't deny it. You perpetuate the system of cliques and popularity like everyone else does.

I love the social heirarchy. What I hate is people who pretend like Enloe has ever been above it.

I used to think that Enloe definitely had cliques, but that they weren't that bad. (I know that I still associate with some people in that are in different "groups" than I am.) Today, I was proven wrong by some juniors and seniors in one of my elective classes, as they looked at the senior superlatives in the yearbook.

"Who are they? I don't even know her; how did she win?"
"Oh, she's one of those weird people, like with the tree-huggers and all of them."

It was really disappointing, and somewhat saddening at the same time. And I know the person they were talking about, too. She's a good person, pretty, intelligent, talented, etc. I found it sad that they weren't able to see that.

I hope that the sophomore class isn't the most cliquey and Broughton-esque - I am a sophomore this year. The real Broughtonites are actually pretty cool, though, or at least the few that I've met. Nothing like the stereotype.

One thing that I can be happy about is that, cliques or no, Enloe still has a pretty large variety of people.

i love my cliques! problems arise when cliques start to think they are better than each other, which usually doesn't happen. in my experience there is usually one that thinks everyone worships them when really noone gives a fuck, and who really cares as long as you have friends?
