I got deferred
Not that I really wanted to go there (UNC), but it still sucks. What else could I have done?

i don't know if there's anything else you could have done. good kids at enloe get deferred because they take so many "great" kids from there.

never mind the good kids at enloe would be "great kids" somewhere else

You could have studied worked harder all four years and gotten better grades.

Perhaps you could have given up some classes you wanted to take for higher level AP classes.

You could have taken the SAT more times, and studied more for it to get a better score.

You could have done any number of things you didn't do.

But that's a lot of work and that's a lot of time and that's a lot of stress, and if you could do it all over again are you sure you'd want to give up so much to go to UNC?

Or maybe you're just dumb, but somehow I don't believe that's the case.

^That pissed me off, PChis, mainly because it's things I did and it shouldn't be what you have to do if you're a good, smart person who wants to go to college.

At least, I feel that the requirements for getting into college are too much.

In retrospect after my anger has worn off, here's what I think.
I could not have taken harder classes. I took 6 APs junior and senior year.
I made a 35 on the ACT. That's the equivalent of a 2370 on the new SAT.
My grades were pretty good, yes they could've been a little better. But I was also happy for the most part and able to put a ton of time/effort into running/enviro stuff, which is honestly more important to me than Calculus. I didn't even want to go UNC, but it's crazy that I couldn't get in. I was just a little shocked is all. Everyone always told me I would have no problem.

i think its funny that people think its so unfair when they dont get into college but never consider the kids who dont even think about going to college because of money, or even just kids who never had the chance to go to school.

i think its funny that people make themselves feel better by being obnoxiously self-righteous

i hate that everyone thinks unc is the pinnacle of greatness. just because you didnt get in or got deferred does not mean you're a dumbass, and i feel really sorry for those people whose whole life happiness depends on getting in to a school. college is what you make of it, wherever you go.

and besides, you can always transfer

First of all, the ACT is a joke, unless you're a minority or a woman. There's some sort of double standard there. Second, a 35 is not equivalent to a 2370. If you want a 2370 on the SAT, get one, the ACT is a whole lot easier.
