oh god. please, not another one. It's such a bad idea. You're friendship is more valuable than any butt-banging that could potentially result by taking it to the next level.
Keep it sacred. There are hardly things to regret more than losing a best friend over something so inconsistent and fickle as hormones.

i think you should make your position known
For anyone who doesn't know, I've been hooking up with my best friend (since 9th grade)for over a year and it's great. We take breaks every now and then (like if someone's got a potential interest) but we're both fine with that and it's very drama - free.
It you're mature about it, it won't ruin your friendship. Just make sure you communicate well and understand what its about.
