That simple minds song is a great example. another good one is "a man of constant sorrow" from o brother where art thou.
I could probably think of a better one, but I love the song "The Show Must Go On" from Moulin Rouge. It's easily forgotten because it's not one of the opulent, show-stopping numbers; hell, they didn't even put it on the first soundtrack. But it's so emotional, and presents, when taken out of context, a beautiful metaphor for life.
