I rub lip balm under my eyes to make them get puffy, red, and teary so I can get my way with my pushover parents.

Eh, you're certainly not a bad person. Disingenous perhaps... but not necessarily "bad".

If you'd like to have people trust you, I would advise against it.

Do they not smell the vaseline and artificial scent?

No manipulation and insicerity definitely fall under the "bad person" category. Taking advantage of a teacher is already pushing it, but your parents are the only people in your life that will always love and respect you and violating that bond is pretty henious (and not in an extreme sport sort of way). Are you going to do this to your boyfriend, your husband, your children? I'd give it up before it lands you in serious trouble, at least spiritually if not physically.

Aw, c'mon guys... step off your pedestals. It's just another form of lying, and if you are going to tell me that you have never lied to your parents, witheld information, or been deceitful in any way to them... well, I'd call you a liar.

No, it's pretty fucking bad to lie and cheat, so don't do it.

Though, I would say the parents are also at fault here for being such "pushovers" if they do indeed cave at each of these situations. They are adults and should have the judgement to raise their kid better.

That said, you are not excused, OP, but again... this is lying like any form. It's not good in any way, in fact it's downright unkind.

So don't do it, even though most everybody lies at some point.
Just don't do it. Badness.
