is it worth risking a friendship for a (maybe) new relationship? this has probably been asked before, but i have no idea what to do. from past experience it's always worked against me, so i guess my question is why should this time be any different?

I am hesitant to say that it isn't worth it. Yet, I am not a risktaker when it comes to relationships, and so I would also be hesitant to say that it is.
If you feel it's right, then go for it. But at the end of all things, you will mourn missed opportunites more than those gone awry.
i agree. if you don't try, you will always wonder what could have happened. plus, if they're a good enough friend then they will always be there for you, even if the romantic side of things doesn't work out.
Asking, "why should this one be any different?" is such a wimpy thing to do! If you're considering dating as an option between you two, then chances are so is he/she. Grow some balls and go get your man/woman.
^^but if it's her man would he really want her growing some balls?
^^in some cases maybe.
have you seen the seinfeld episode where jerry attempts tobreak up but stay friends and him and george argue oveer if it is actually possible?
pchis and tintedfragipan:
Those were metaphorical balls.
