In reference to anon3, I think in this case the compliments are relative, as I would much prefer to be "hardcore" than "punk rock". All a matter of personal preference, I suppose.
Ew. I would never want to be called punk rock. I hate the label punk, its pretty much meaningless at this point. I wouldn't want to be called hardcore either, unless it was in reference to something I do well/put a lot of effort into. For example "Yeah! She's so hardcore about envirothon!"
