Don't purposefully try to break his heart... just tell him you're not interested. Your disinterest will likely break his heart all by itself if he really is that taken with you.

no, the problem is, we've been casually going out for a couple months, but I kind of lost interest. He says he's in love with me, but I'm not in love with him. I want to end it but I don't want to hurt him.
odd how the more anonymous these are, the more applicable they are. Seems as though this could easily be about me, save for a couple of of small details. On the off chance that it is about me, I won't be heartbroken in the least, as life will, as always, continue, just as it has, and will.
Oh the possiblities are endless...
