So, Jazzical rehearsal today went...bad? great? mediocre?
(I couldn't really tell)
what did everyone else think?

It definitely sounds better with the chorus. Band was coming together, but I don't think two hours was a realistic scenario for a full-band rehearsal. Most kids aren't used to playing that long, and I think a lot of people (brass, oboes) were feeling the length at the end.

I would have also preferred we work individual sections rather than running the whole thing. But that's just my preference. I don't think much gets done when we just play through stuff.

My main angst was not of the musical variety, however. :p

it wasn't too bad; i agree, individual practice would've been better.

i think we'll be good on sunday. the trouble is working out the kinks, since we're down to the last minute.

during today's rehearsal i noticed just how greasy hannah's hair is.

but more importantly, the winds need more work than anyone else, especially that last note on to life to love.

ahahaha, man. I got back from fencing yesterday and was like--reading Harry Potter? Or washing, conditioning, combing, and drying hair?

Clearly, you can see the priority issue.

It'll be clean tomorrow. And for the concert, I promise. :D

Am I the only one who is completely disenchanted and unimpressed by Joel Martin this year?

I've heard a bit of his composition, looked at the score, and read the lyrics. Totally makes me go "Bleh" in a nothing-special sort of way.

you can hear the whole thing on the band website, there are mp3s

No, you aren't the only one unimpressed this year. I know a bunch of other people who are.

I (being a member of the Chamber Orchestra) cannot say much either way, because I hardly ever get to see him any more.

seems like everybody in symphony hates him, except that girl who wrote the song he used.
