I'm beginning to feel more and more like tangst is becoming an admin forum instead of an anonymous blog. I liked it better when I didn't know who the admins were. I won't be attending the tangst convention because that would ruin the whole "anonymous" expirience that I get on here. Stay out of the way, admins. You're ruining it. Tangst is selling out to you guys.

that is true. Knowing who most of the admins are has given Tangst less of an...aura. I wonder if it was inevitable, though, what with each of them developing personal writing styles/other discernable traits as they write more and more.
We could always try to make the admins all change their names at the same time, and not tell us who is who. I think, again, that we would figure out who was who pretty quickly. Most of us know each other, and we can't hide from one another forever.
On the contrary, I think knowing the person that is saying what can help the anonymous OP to understand what they should do. When you know who it is that is responding to your problem, and what they thing you should do, it takes on an entirely new meaning. And besides, those folks from Colorado don't know who the contributors and admins are...
can't everyone just post anonymously? i know the admins do it half of the time anyway... it's just ending up stupid and making you guys seem superior with all your inside jokes and such. i'm fine with some random common posters as long as noone really knows who they are...
I think that yall should wear paper bags over your heads for the conventions and draw stupid faces on them and weird robes so you can't tell who's boy or girl or alien or chipmunk and get voice changers wouldn't that be sweet Just wish I could be there even if you don't like my idea.

Honestly, Frashi, I can generally tell who most of the posters are (on TWHE), even if they are trying to hide their identities.
I do think that anonymity is important in an open forum like this, though, because if everyone knows everyone else, the posters will become too shy to give honest advice and opinions.
Maybe you anonymous kids should post more often, and it'd be less of us talking.
I place the burden on you :-D.
Just as a side note, personally I think that we don't often post inside jokes with each other.

As to a fan club...I don't think that was the admin's fault.
I'd have to agree with Anonymous5 and Anonymous7. Which is sad.
I tend to both comment and post anonymously just like I did in the beginning. I don't think it's fair, but there is a certain sense that what the admins say carries more weight. Which is why I do think a lot more about what I say when I'm posting with my name attached.
I like my laissez-faire approach to Tangst, I believe it's what works best. But it's not for everyone. Some of the admins have a more... exhibitionist bent than I.
Tangst is a soapbox to the admins and anonymous masses alike. Ia gree with some other psoters, it has changed. But everything in life changes.
I don't think Tangst can ever be what it was, nor would it be a welcome revision. It's like elemnentary/middle school. Those were fun years, but it'd be totally out of context to return to them now.
It would be good to have more of a hands-off approach from some admins though.
Nonetheless, some admins need to freakin' back down. Sithgirl does it perfectly, but some of you feel the need to comment on every single post and we're a little sick of it. The rest of us post anonymously and it's like releasing a paper boat out to sea, we never do it for ourselves and there are no strings attached. There's something inherently selfish about clinging to a persona in a sea of anonimity.
I propose that administrative usernames be used only when concerning administrative duties (planning and such). I dare you all to try it just for a week. I promise we'll all be better for it.
I usually only use my name to respond directly to questions aimed at me or the community.
It'd be nice to see the other admins try your suggestion.

What people are forgetting is that Tangst was originally based, at least in some form, on PostSecret. The point is, the whole basis of anonymity on Tangst has to do not with the people doing the commenting, but with the people posting the secrets. I think sithgirl said it, but I do believe that it's true that those with usernames carry slightly more weight. And I stick with what I said before that if you know who is saying what, you can measure their validity much more accurately, and not do something stupid just because some anonymous idiot on the internet told you to. It's adds an aura of accountability.

hm... i'm keeping a user name just so i don't have to count anonymouses to refer to myself if i comment twice on a post.
i really don't even feel that being an admin gives you some sort of credibility boost.
i post and comment anonymously most of the time.
i don't comment on every freakin post.
i seem to fail, as an admin, to live up to your expectations.
You do realize that no one's stopping you from getting a user name? Don't knock it 'til you tried it.
