I think i got the shaft on my tisdale position paper grade. I suppose maybe the grade i got was what i deserved, but the comments lead me to believe otherwise...

on my paper... there were few corrections... one said "how" next to my thesis, like i didn't list the reasons for why my statement was true that i used later, but i showed her my thesis earlier and she said it was fine....

but in addition to a few minor mistakes, the last comment was "wonderful - this is about all i can say"

what is "the shaft"? I know what it means, but what grade do you correspond that with?

Out of curiosity, what was your grade?

I got a 94, which I felt was probably better than I actually deserved - I feel like I kept repeating myself over and over again.

Of course, it is possible, and I don't like to accuse teachers of doing this, and so I say it very tenatively, that perhaps the reason Tis gave you a lower grade is either because she doesn't particularly like you, or (the more optimistic approach), that she knows you can do better.

oh no, it's still a good grade, and possibly what i deserved, i just don't think that the comments represent that..

i got a 94 also btw

wait...why are you complaining?

Lame. If I do perfectly in Hoffman's, I get a 98. Stop bitching.

see? like i said, i knew i wouldn't get much sympathy because, while i know that a 94 is a fairly good grade to most ppl, but to me it's barely what i need

I thought so, 94 is a "wonderful paper" if she was like THIS HAS NO ERRORS AND IS ABSOLUTELY STUPENDOUS

then I'd say wtf, but yeah, I got a 93, and that's wonderful frankly.

As a student in both Hoffman and Tisdale's classes, I realize that it is much easier to do better in Tisdale's class. Hoffman simply will not give you a perfect grade, and you have to learn to deal with that. It is harder to get an A in Hoffman's class (especially considering how few assignments you get) than it is in Enviro. And that's saying something.

Yet, I find it so much more satisfying when I get an A in a class in which it is so elusive.

i got a 95 and was absolutely ecstatic. i felt like i had no "facts" in my paper -- i didn't have a single quote from a source i used, or a footnote... or... whatever. i'm so happy.

I saw one paper with a 65 on it. Sucks for that person.
