I don't care about high school.
I don't care about college.
I don't care about a career.
I don't care about living richly.
I don't care about nice cars, social status, networking..

I just want to be a stay at home mom. Too bad it's a waste of a 170 IQ.

NOT A WASTE.
Motherhood requires courage, skill, and intellect. And above all, an extreme capacity for love.
Don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

This is the problem with our society. We are expected to live better than our parents - we are expected to get better degrees, make more money, be more successful. But something's gotta give, 'cause we can't all have everything. You should never be ashamed of wanting to be a stay at home mom. Just make sure that you keep yourself at least somewhat involved in something, whether it be a Church/Synagogue/whatever group or heck, substitute teaching.

The important thing is to be happy. And quite honestly, I'm impressed that at this age you are so sure that you want children. Usually, I don't hear girls saying that.

"Too bad it's a waste of a 170 IQ."

I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with your mom, if this statement is acutally true. When you're sitting above Mozart, Darwin, -and- Descartes then you owe us at least a Nobel Prize if not a cure for cancer.

IQ is just a number, its hardly a valuable indicator of future sucess or present potential.. I have a tested and confirmed rating of 140. according to wikipedia, that places me within the top 0.5% of humanity. Im not a straight-a student, im not top of the class. Im bright and intelligent, but the number doesnt guarantee success.

NO ONE OWES ANYONE ANYTHING!

If you're going to be great, you have to be great for yourself. Individuals don't "owe" society. Read Atlas Shrugged.

Anonymous 3, I completely agree with you. I have an IQ of 164 and I'm failing 3 classes at the moment.

^NO! Society and the forces of equality and golden-rule altruism are the only things that have clothed, properly fed, and educated you all these years to what you are today. Without the world you would be nothing. You owe the world everything. You owe it healthy intelligent children. You owe it hard work and unique thinking that will benefit your fellow man. Anything less would be dishonest and cruel.

By the way, Ayn Rand is bat-shit crazy and philosophically illogical. Don't worry though, the poison will wear away in a few years.

I agree that Ayn Rand is pretty much full of shit.

That said, if you think that rearing intelligent children isn't considered "hard work" then God help us all if you ever have children.

If the poster to which I refer was being sarcastic and I didn't pick up on it, please disregard this.

I think 170 is an obscene number.

Only 1 in 164571 people has a 170 IQ. That isn't all -that- rare, right?

*cough*

I hate IQ tests, cause they can range all over the place when you take them different times...and they don't measure what everyone seems to imply they measure.

If you want to be a stay at home mom, go for it.

"bat-shit crazy" is my new favorite phrase, thank you.
