You also put a quotation mark where there should have been an apostrophe :P

But I don't like the term "Asian Failing." It implies that a certain race is more intelligent. I thought we were done with social darwinism?

i'm asian failing a class, which means i'm asian failing at life, but...

i'm like... realistically pwning at life

i hate being asian... always getting crapped on for bad grades... never getting compliments for good ones

Good grades are what you're supposed to get. You don't deserve compliments. That's like "Oh, good job, you paid your taxes!" I mean, it's just what you should do.

If you don't think getting good grades is worth it then don't do it. It doesn't matter what anybody else wants, do what you want. I for one think a high mark is enjoyable, thus I try for it. You on the other hand are asian failing. maybe you're not good enough.

you could always just die.

Let's tone down the asshole quotient a bit, huh? Every kid who gets out of bed every morning and excells in difficult classes should be showered with praises because that's definitely not the norm. C is average. A good portion of the people across the US have already dropped out from high school. Sometimes it's easy to get blinded at Enloe into thinking the rest of the world is in all APs their sophomore year with a 4.0 unweighted, but the fact is, if you have mostly A's at Enloe then you're doing something extraordinary and deserve at least a compliment now and then.

It doesn't cost a parent a thing to say "Good work. I'm proud of you." now and then. Mine say it all the time. Maybe I have one more B than if I had Asian parents, but in the long run I'm way more emotionally stable and happy.

No race is more intelligent naturally, but because of social pressures and environment trends some races perform better academically than others. That's life. Asians (in general obviously, and in higher percentages for those who have immigrated to America) urge their children to preform flawlessly in school and extracurriculars using any means necessary, because anything less would be robbing them of their future happiness and security. Americanized whites take a more lax approach to raising children, focusing on individuality, having fun in stead of winning, and finding your own path. These trends are then passed on generation to generation through social cognition rather than genes.

Of course these grand overgeneralizations must be taken with a grain of salt, but when looking at the broad picture they are generally very true.

Not getting an A (ie getting a B or less.)

I see. So what you're saying is: basically I am being a prejudgemental bastard and using terms that propegate racial stereotypes, but it's okay because we all know that arabs are islamic extremists and all black people rob convenience stores. This is generally very true!

Glad I get it.

Well Tinty, answer me this: if you were wlaking down a NYC street at night and could choose to be passed by a little old white woman or a black teenager that's a foot taller than you. Everyone's a little racist. The difference comes in acting on something rather than just thinking it, but we all still act to some degree or another (indeed it has been shown in a study that when white career interviewers interview black people vs. white people, they word the questions more open endedly in a negative sense and sit further away from the interviewee and aren't quite as comfortable and friendly, and all this seemingly subconsciously).

But THIS isn't really taht kind of racism; this is just that funny generalization that we make that all asians are smart and that they all need to get all A's hence the term "asian failing." I may have a negative affect on society somewhere down the road, but it is not meant to be hurtful (well none of the times I've heard it), and it's basically just a joke.

So can we lay off the political correctness okay? I hate political correctness, especially cause 'they' keep insisting I'm caucassion, I'm not fucking Russian okay?

"arabs are islamic extremists and all black people rob convenience stores"

It would be fine to say this if a majority of arabs or african-americans actually did these things, but simply they don't. But a majority of asian parents -are- more geared toward academic sucess than white parents. See?

It's the difference between faulty cognition and simple generalizations.

Social Darwininsm: Women are bad at driving.
Not: Most firefighters are men.

Better now?

let's just stop at that faulty assumption (i.e., that "it would be fine to say this") and thus assume the rest of your 'point' is invalid?

kthx.

sometimes my mom does the "you could do better than this" thing on a 98%, and that really makes me mad. i'll get over 100s on test, and she won't even look a little pleased. i fucking hate that!
