Can mouthwash prevent an orally transmitted disease? I was at a party and was dancing with this girl when she just kissed me. I hate her for it, it was my first kiss, and it was complete shit. I didn't know what to do, I didn't want to kiss her, but I felt like moving my head away would have been rude. I didn't want to swallow but I could only hold the spit in my mouth for so long. I only swallowed once, but as soon as I got back I mouthwashed with listerine. Should I be okay?

I also gargled twice with salt water.

Haha well it wouldn't help if she had HPV or Herpes or something but you'll probably be fine. It's unlikely you'd get any diseases in the amount of saliva transmitted by one kiss. The worst you'll probably get is a cold.

I'm truly sorry to hear about your first kiss, but I'm sure you'll laugh about it later.

You're probably alright in the safety department.

Just for future reference though: if someone kisses you it is completely okay to pull back if you are not comfortable with the kiss. She could and might have taken it in a bad way, but there's nothing inherently rude about it.

Why would you laugh at me, I'm asking for your advice...

Don't pay them any mind, OP. On the Internet, every discussion has its trolls.

And don't get too anxious. if the girl has herpes, swing by a doctor for a "routine checkup" or ask a pharmacist at a drug store for their advice. If she's just an unpleasant person, don't worry about it.

And while you're at it, give the anxiety post a read. it's got some good advice.

We're laughing at you, OP, because quite frankly, you're being ridiculous.

Let's count the things you could conceivably "contract" from such an encounter:

1. A cold
2. Mono
3. Oral herpes

In fact, in that exact order. If you get a disease from someone by kissing them, 95% of the time it will be a cold. Unless both of your mouths were bleeding as you were kissing, you won't get AIDS. You don't have herpes.

I'm really sorry that your first experience was so miserable, but I think you're blowing this a bit out of proportion.

Addition to what the last anon said:
Oral herpes is cold sores. That's it. 95% of people already have them. I got them before I even had my first kiss. Not a big deal.

Colds go away, so does mono, and you're going to get cold sores no matter what.

You're fine.

Overwhelming chances are you're fine.

Work on protecting yourself from people forcing unwanted intimacy on you, though. In such things it is never rude to decline--it is an individual preogative. A kiss, or anything else, to be good, should be mutual and consentual. She was out of line. You shouldn't have to accept anything physical you don't want, ever. The nice way to tell somebody that is you want to take it slow so it'll mean something when it happens.

(Then if you don't like the girl, duck her!)

" why would you laugh at me" you really need to toughen up a bit. if you get offended whenever someone laughs at you you will never be able to laugh at yourself.
