How can you have everything you need and then some and still feel so unsatisfied and shitty about your life? What do you really need to be truly happy?

a friend of mine says you need to find what god wants you to do.

I think you just need to find what you're meant to do, what you're best at.

be at peace with yourself in all aspects and realize that you're never going to be ENTIRELY happy.

I would say God. or whatever religion you are into. when you're into it....it makes you feel like you have a purpose in life. and that never feels bad.

"everything you need and then some" is a vague assessment.

If you mean that you have all that society tells you that you should want/need in terms of material possessions, that's all well and good. However, as others have touched on, subjective material assessment of personal value is worthless if you're devoid of a "personal enrichment" component.

For some people, religion is the way to go; for others, social outreach or volunteering (selflessness) provides the necessary enrichment. Still others find their purpose in more narcissistic venues, such as grades and academic achievement, or through a "greater purpose" they perceive themselves to be created to fulfill.

Essentially, you need something personal that you can evaluate on your own terms as an individual. Holding yourself strictly to the ideals or terms of society's dictations will leave you an empty shell, a mechanical appendage of the social machine.
