I don't think I've ever dated inside my own religion. The fact of the matter is you have faith in something at all which is more than most can say. That alone should set you apart if faith is important to him. Besides, is discrimination really a "christian" value?

PS he's baptist, right?

Sounds like the start of an interesting conversation.

Look at it this way...I wouldn't go out with you because you aren't Jewish.

For some people, a shared religion is very important. In fact, more relationships work out when the two parties involved have a shared religious background.

Now, the fact that he said you aren't a Christian even though you're Catholic...maybe you should remind him who came first.

But still. He's also probably facing a lot of pressure from his family to date/marry within the faith. It's an issue a lot of people face. You just have to come to terms with the fact that for some people, religion is very important.

You're right, that did come out sounding pretty bad. It wasn't meant to be.

The problem is that so few young men remain Catholic after childhood, and those who do are often inclined towards priesthood. So, there aren't many good Catholic boys for the OP to go out with. Suckage.
