There is a definite possibility that I am wrong, but I think that I might have ADHD, primarily inattentive type.

Does anyone know where to go for a diagnosis or for help?

Has anyone else told you this? Everyone and their grandmother is diagnosed with it and it gets to be ridiculous.

But call your doctor if you're not just looking for an excuse, they can direct you to someone.

If I weren't being pretty serious about it, I probably wouldn't have posted it up here. That being said, I looked it up myself and readily acknowledge that some of my problems could be the result of something else.

(Hope that didn't sound too defensive - I just felt the need to explain.)

Not at all, I'm just skeptical of the whole thing. I was diagnosed and bought into the whole "Only pills can help you" thing for a while and I think that's bullshit. Didn't mean to sound like I was attacking you.

ADD and ADHD are extremely overdiagnosed. That said, the only person that can really say is your doctor.

Just make sure you trust your doctor.

P.S. I find that when I use things like WebMD, I always find myself to have a lot of the symptoms for a lot of random diseases.

Basically, those things make you paranoid.

if you for rullz think you have it, and you'd be better off being treated, they can diagnose you at NC State. my brother had it done last spring.

If you have managed to 1) read a book 2) watch a movie 3) learn a musical instrument, you most likely don't have it. I also only know one person who got diagnosed after 10th grade, but all through school he could never manage to even finish reading a short story.

Anon 3, not all people with ADHD are that badly off. I have two friends who were diagnosed in middle school; both like to read (and have made it through large books) and play musical instruments. Even most easily-distracted people can watch a whole movie; that one is just silly.

Whoa - lots of responses. Thank you, anyone who replied.

I'm probably going to take some of my issues up with my school counselor first, to get her feedback on possible solutions to some of the issues I'm having. If she thinks that ADHD is a possibility, then I'll get it checked out.

To the last anon, tell them they don't have ADD. It's not a disorder if it doesn't effect your life and they obviously are pretty well off. Like anon3, I have never been able to focus long enough to learn an instrument, I can't watch a whole movie in a single sitting and it takes me forever to finish books. You either have ADD or you don't, there isn't a gray area.
