What actually happens to 2nd semester seniors who let their grades slip in some of their classes.. not like straight Fs and sleeping but not studing as hard..and not turning in some homework and whatnot

I got a "could you explain this" call, which of course meant nothing in the long run. Don't don't dip too low. Your college probably told you how low you weren't allowed to fall, so stick to it. Usually try to get at least C's.
I think that it depends on the school and the senior.
I know of one person who was, at the last minute, thrown out of a college for getting a poor math grade. However, most people tend to be okay as long as they don't slack off too much.
It also depends how far you slip. I failed fourth quarter English (by refusing to write any more papers) last year and still got in. Then again, I ended the year with a B in the class (don't ask me how). If your grades have been great untill now, its ok to relax a little. Take it on a class by class basis though.
