I smoke weed every once in a while. Not nearly every day or even every week. When I feel like I want some I buy some, maybe once every two or three weeks if even. One of my friends completely freaked out on me because of it and started citing health problems and how I'm going to fail out of college because of my "habit." This post is dedicated to all of you overprotective and wayyy too sheltered friends out there: fuck off. I'm not going to fail, I'm not going to die, and I'm not going to go crazy. It's just weed. If you don't want to be around me when I smoke it I completely understand 100% but that doesn't change the person I am when I'm sober so shut the fuck up.

I'm sure it's a coincidence... but the previous post seems to be related to this one.

I smoke weed every so often too. It's when you start using it to run away from your problems that it becomes a bad thing. It gets out of control very quickly.

word to the poster. I agree 100%. and to anon #2 - that is totally different.

It is so amazing to me how naive people can be about weed. It is very possible to smoke every day and be successful and happy.
I love smoking and I think I am a happier person because of it. Weed is so much less destructive than alcohol, but no one seems to realize that.

I haven't posted on here in so long that I've forgotten my password. Oops.

That's bullshit and you know it. I'd say they're about even.

Are you kidding ME?

The use of marijuana has been linked firmly and multiple times to symptoms of schizophrenia, psychosis, depression, etc.

No, weed is not as addictive, as alcohol, heroin, or cocaine, I won't argue that with you. But either way, when you're putting chemicals in your brain that shouldn't be there, you can't argue that the long term effects will be good.

And finally, the short-term effects of marijuana are very similar to alcohol. Basically, driving high is just as dangerous and stupid as driving drunk. In terms of overall harm I think it's safe to put alcohol and weed in the same category.
