Don't let anyone tell you it's wrong, it really works for some people. Just don't do it if you don't think it's right for you.

Like some others have said... for what?

Sadness that I cannot shake off, no matter what I do. Sadness that has come, off and on, for three years, at regular intervals, and is overstaying its leave. Sadness that makes me want to die sometimes.

bipolar? I would try the medication, and if it works - great! just try not to be too reliant on it...

It sounds like whatever your current situation, it isn't working for you. I would say to give the medication a try or else look for some alternatives that you think might help you.

I hope that, whatever you decide, everything will work out eventually.

Your best bet is to talk to a competent psychiatrist. He or she will know better than you or any of us whether your depression is mental or biological-- and don't listen to people who say "aaaugh, pills pills pills, fooey!" Unexplainable depression is often caused by nasty brain chemicals that no amount of family, friends or Jesus can take away. If medication fixes the chemical balance in your brain and allows you to enjoy life like you want to, then the medication is good.
