a boy sent me an anonymous facebook message saying how I was the most beautiful girl in the world to him and he was too scared to tell me to my face how he felt about me.

This is strange. I got a message identical to yours, and so did one other person I know. Exact same wording-- the "most beautiful girl in the world" and the bit about being to scared to tell me "to my face" how he felt. I think, unfortunately, that this might be a well-intentioned hoax.

A year or two ago, a non-anonymous boy sent me a facebook message saying that I was a "really pretty girl". Then, on my birthday, he sent me another message similar to the first.

Creepily enough, I had no idea who he was (and it said that he went to a different high school than me, too). Probably if I had gotten any more messages, I would have dealt with it in some way, but... it was a long time ago.

Maybe it's not a hoax but someone trying to give people a little extra confidence?

Please dont give out the identity of who did it.

Its not me, but I've done similar things in the past. There are those of us who like doing nice things anonymously. He facebook compliments, I stop at every kid's lemonade stand I see, no question.

I agree with the Anon above me, its merely a nice thing to do, instead of criticize, why not join in :)?

I assumed that when Swalest'shooth said that it may be a "well-intentioned" hoax, she was saying that it was someone trying to be nice, but the things said weren't necessarily true. I may be wrong, of course; I'm not trying to put words into someone else's mouth.

^ "but the things said weren't necessarily true." that sounded alot like "these girls are not actually pretty at all"...im not sure if you meant that or not..

^ No no, I think what that person meant was that it might not neccessarily be true that the guy loves all the girls secretly, but that he's telling them the essential truth that they are all uniquely beautiful and he wants them to feel wanted.
