A good friend of mine was given the same advice about me by her therapist. The sad thing is, I was the one who recommended therapy.

Was it a toxic/unhealthy friendship? I'm rather confused at why you would be told to shun a friend.
well, yeah. we dated for a while then we still screwed around after we broke up. it was really fun, but i just miss him being around more than anything. hes the closest ive ever been to anyone.
