This is my first thanksgiving away from my parents. Growing up sucks.

Agreed, that first holiday away from your family sucks. Each one after that gets a little easier, but the charm of the experience you had as a kid living in your parents' house never quite comes back.
That said, I hope your holiday went alright. Count your blessings; it's cheesy, but it'll make you feel better.
Coming home after you've been away never feels the same as it did before.
no, but the traditions you had before served to bring your family closer together. they already did their job. and now you can establish new traditions with your friends who are stuck away from /their/ families. enjoy growing up. learn to cook a turkey. and appreciate the times you can come home and the family that you have even when you're away.
