When I saw this on PostSecret, I thought "Yes, this is it exactly."
I really do wish I knew how to fall out of love. I used to know, but my method doesn't work anymore - in fact, it makes things worse. And this time, it's lasted too long and is still driving me crazy.
I need for it to end.

I think I have fallen out of love. The girl that I used to adore really doesn't do anything for me anymore. I can't decide whether I'm ecstatic to be rid of my (almost) obsession, or whether to be a little depressed that I spent so much time thinking about her and never did anything about it.
Crushes are fun and worthwhile whether you do something about them or not.
Often you can get a lot more enjoyment from mooning over someone for a few months silently than you can telling your feelings and getting slapped down in that first week.
Ugh, anonymous 2 I completely disagree. The mooning is just the annoying step to psych yourself to ask them. I'd rather be slapped down in the first week than moon for months and then get slapped down.
I see nothing wrong with having a crush on someone that you know you have absolutely no chance with or simply decide not to date. What's wrong with attraction just for attraction's sake? A little unrequited love can be exiting and fun and doesn't have to be just a means to an end. If everone actually confronted every person they ever crushed on the angsty teen world as we know it would be drowning in hurt and rejection. Show some restraint people.
I'm not sure that all of you "You should just go for it" people understand. Sometimes we have crushes on guys that are already attached, or guys that will never in a million years be interested in us and we know it. There is no point in subjecting ourselves to humiliation, because we already know what will come of it.
And even so, we're still in crush, because we just can't help it.
I agree with the "crushing without confronting" people. It can be a funnish way to amuse the brain, if your hormones dicate that you be attracted to someone whom your brain informs you would never work. What's the harm in looking, even if they never look back?
And once you find the right one, the courage to ask will come.
Not so much. It's hard to be "glass half-full" with a guy who seems totally happy with a girl that's perfect for him. Well, there is, but not in a way that involves you and him being in a relationship.
"^^hmm, one of those "glass half empty" kind of people?"
I have a crush on Meg Ryan. Does it make me a pessimist to understand that I should just enjoy the crush for what it is and not try to send her creepy phone calls until she goes out with me? (or gets a restraining order, which ever comes first)

Yes it does make you a pessimist...this is probably one of the situtations in which it would be better to choose the more logical path rather than the "positive thinking" path.
But thank you for coming up with an inane example to try to render my comment pointless.

Right on, PChis.
Mooning is great...if you're twelve. We're older, let's act like it.
Maybe "mooning" was the wrong word...

I disagree, crushes that you don't act on just hurt you, better to be brave and get it all out.

See, I would probably jump with glee if I found that a girl was actually interested in me.

^No thank -you- for using "inane" sarcasm to belittle me and fuel your sense of superiority.

But you're very welcome ;)
