My boyfriend has sweet ideas, but he never follows through. He says that he'll do so many little thoughtful things for me, but when it comes time to execute them, he either does it obviously half-assed or not at all. I think he's more in love with the idea of a relationship than with me.

You should try doing something little for him (not necessarily romantic if he is not that kind of guy) so that he can see how wonderful you are as a person and so he will think, "I should do that too"
Yeah it totally blows that romantic acts are supposed to be a one way street for guys.
No matter how silly it sounds guys need to be told they're loved just as much as girls do. So, get out there and do something romantic for yours.
