The last time I cried was when I read the sixth Harry Potter book....I probably won't cry again until the next one comes out.

To be honest, I cried too.
I didn't cry even then.
I never cry anymore.
Every time I feel I should tear up and don't, a little part of me dies.
I hate what I've become.
I hate who I am.
But I digress... Tears are a good way to relieve stress and emotion. It shouldn't be years between every "good cry" you have.
I find Harry Potter to be mediocre
"literature," devoid of emotion.

The stories are cute, some of her depiction of the teenage mind is truthful and amusing. It's not deep in any way, this is true. Lots of people enjoy it, they are mildly entertaining stories and don't take much thought... so it will generally appeal to the masses. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing... just not very intelligent literature.
i cried too...and during the 5th when sirius died.
Modern society has made our lives so neutral and pleasant that we have nothing to cry about anymore. I applaud artists like Rowling that can make people feel again.
I tear up when I get in fights with my parents.
The next time I really cry will probably be when my mom dies.
As for Harry Potter, it is fun to read, but hardly deep. I HATED how sirius died, it wasn't heroic at all. He fell behind a fucking curtain and harry was like NO SIRIUS, and they were like THATS THE DEATH CURTAIN HARRY, HE"S DEAD, NOOOOOO.
I'm just waiting for him to come back and tell us it was the teleportation curtain and it just took him a while to get back.
i agree with the poster above. i mean, really, if your going to kill a character, at least develop him more. and i suspect sirius will probably come back in some form--dumblrdore too. now when he died that was sad becuase we actually cared, but it was necessary, i was getting sick of dumbledore always being harry's guardian angel.

Plus, Rowling is made by HP. She can't just let it die in a prescribed manner.
Odds are, it'll become an everlasting serial, or something near that.
Yeesh, that's a lot of anger and resentment for people who've spent dozens of hours and dollars on these books. If you're just going to continue reading them then you're not allowed to complain. Boycott them if you hate them so much.

haha I know it, I'm currently reading the 11th one, apparently he's going to end it within the next 2.
And Rowling's going to end HP at 7 books.

i cried too... but i still think the third book was the ultimate.
well, too each of us our own. some stories bring out certain feelings inus, some don't. i think it as a lot more to do with who you are than what the story is. personally, if i love the story, and love the characters, i'll cry.
meh, i was just looking for an excuse.
but i do love HP.
After I read the sixth book, I thought it was a thousand times worse than all of the others, writing-style-wise, etc. But then I looked back through the others and realized I had just become more critical.
