Rashi, you've become so mean lately. I mean, if everyone had a balloon of niceness that was full when people were nice and deflated when people were mean yours would be one of those several day old balloons that still has air in it but is all wrinkley and on the ground. I guess I should be less mean too.

Am I the only one who is completely confused by this? I mean, rashi is SOOOO not mean. Sure, he's way sarcastic, but not MEAN.
In fact, I think he's quite funny.
OK, I would like to address this issue, which I have noticed has become brought up in a number of posts, presumably in response to some of my own. Here goes:
I am intentionally mean to two types of people. They are as follows:
1) Jerks. There are a lot of jerks and assholes on this site. I can name two right off the top of my head. One is that guy in the topic posted by the freshman, who blasted the OP for not capitalizing properly. This is an internet forum. That is asinine, and is completely uncalled for unless tHe caPitaLiZatIon lOoKs LikE thIS, making it virtually unreadable, which it was not. The other example is of the asshole that posted a topic saying, "Sithgirl, I cannot believe you let that idiot Allil_whoever become a contributor." That is 100% out of line, and I would rather never find myself in the same room as that person, lest I "accidentally" bash their teeth into the wall.
2) The other type of people I am intentionally mean to is whiners. I hate whiners. I can't stand them. Unless they are proactively doing something to better their situation, I consider them more or less a waste of my time. An example of this is the recent posts that say something along the lines of "I like this girl, but she doesn't like me." Now, I realize that Tangst is supposed to be anonymous, and is a forum for expressing our feelings. But this post tells us as a commenting community absolutely nothing. All it does is waste space on the main page, where something really juicy could be placed. As such, I am likely to, in these topics, post something that I consider at the time to be witty and intentionally lacking any real constructive value - after all, if the OP does not extend that courtesy, why should I? The other example of this, of course, were the topics several months ago about cutting. I hate cutting. I hate everything that anyone likes about cutting. I see absolutely no benefit in doing so, and cannot understand why people do it. Thus, I demean them in the harshest possible way.
Most other topics I consider myself to be a fairly nice person. Nine times out of ten, I am sympathetic, and actually offer real advice. I appreciate your support anonymous1.
I saw this topic posted this morning, and have been more or less contemplating my reply all day. However, I know there are some things that I forgot. If I think of them, I will continue my rant.
nice answer rashi, I must say I agree with those although I do generally take a mean tone to random people for reasons beyond my control.
bravo, rashi.
the only thing that i disagree with SLIGHTLY is the thing about cutters. i have never been a cutter. i never will be a cutter. i too think it is pointless and disgusting and a tragically sad "last resort" that should never even be considered.
but last year i knew a girl who was a cutter. she realized it was all the things i just mentioned above. but she had no idea what to do. she was addicted. she was helpless to help herself.
so rashi, maybe instead of "demeaning them in the harshest possible way" you could offer a tiny dash of sympathy with a huge wallop of arguments for quitting.
that might be more helpful don't you think?
but i still approve highly of you in every other way :)
