I think it's awesome that this site got on Wikipedia. And to Heather - perhaps you ought to look into actually getting this site copyrighted.
Yeah, I'd say you're on to something.
Technically, the site is actually copyrighted. In the US, as long as little mark is on there, it's a recognized copyright. To make it completely official, I'd have to register the copyright.
In regards to both the trademark and the copyright, registering takes money to do. I'm... not willing to spend money on this site. Time yes, actual funds, no. And I'm completely against exploiting you guys, the users, in the form of ads on the site. I think that would be ridiculous and unfair.
So for now, we'll just let the things at the bottom stand, because even unregistered, the trademark and copyright can be legally enforced. I put up the notice, it's mine. And yours. Everything belongs to the website and its users, this isn't meant to be about any one person.

Copyrights, patents, and trademarks are interesting issues in terms of the federal government of the United States.
The two relevant ones, copyrights and trademarks, are fully enforceable in a judicial setting, regardless of whether they are registered with the "appropriate" federal institutions.
It takes vast amounts of time and hundreds of dollars to obtain a single registered recognition of copyright or trademark from the America government. While registration provides the most solid basis of protection, this simply isn't feasible for many individuals.
Therefore, US federal law and legislation dictates that the original owners and editors of works (especially of literature in any form) shall be legally entitled to the exclusive rights to their work beginning at the time of creation or publication, and continuing indefinitely.
So in conclusion, Tangst legally holds the tradmark rights to "Tangst" in reference to teenage angst and the Tangst community. Also, the copyright to the content provided by Tangst is protected by both the community and the authors of each of the works (even anonymous owners are legally legitimate in a court of law, per the nature of submission).

well dan i think has his own server. he might let you host it on his server for free, if you ask real nicely. but usually, i think prices run at around $12/year depending on the amount of bandwidth you want.

A simple redirect (www.tangst.com takes you to tangst.blogspot.com) can be had for 10usd for a year.
That's how PostSecret's domain, postsecret.com, works.
Its not free, though its cheap.
Sorry guys, there's a difference between owning a server, and having the ICANN (just google it) in my pocket. ;-)
I can host anybody's site for free, but acquiring a domain name is a different matter.

As to the font issue:
Look up Regional and Language Settings on your computer, or google it, and you should figure out how to install the Asian character support.
Or...don't. Its a fair amount of effort just to see a couple pretty characters.

And dear anonymous, its "long nian," or directly, "dragon year," ostensibly meaning "year of the dragon." My Chinese sucks, so that's not completely correctly concocted, but it works.
Erm...Longnian, I don't think you can add 们 ('men' for those w/o the East Asian stuff (come on guys, even /I/ managed to figure it out and install it on my own, and I'm technology-retarted)) onto 朋友 ('pengyou'). It only works w/ 我(wo), 你(ni), and 他 (ta). Erm...at least that's what Feung Laoshi told me. Love your monotone, by the way. Not that this has anything to do with the conversation at hand.
