The reason I can't like you is because you're ugly. I wish to God I was kidding, but I'm not. You're a wonderful person, don't ever doubt that. I just can't make myself overlook your obvious lack of um... attractiveness and concentrate on who you are under that. I'm sorry. I hate myself for this.

I happens, well...not yet to me, but you know.
I hope it's not me. I think I'm hot.
That's actually pretty mean. I can't understand how you could possibly bring yourself to say that about someone.
Shame on you.
Haha whatever. I'm sure they're ugly. At least you acknowledged their good qualities as well.
feels good to say it doesnt it?
Yeah, you're a really shallow person, but then again, we all are, so it's nothing new.
i know what you mean
things like that shouldn't matter, but, they do, and everyone that says it doesn't is a freaking liar
were all thinking something like that about someone
I don't think that way. Believe me, its possible.
That being said, this makes me a tad sick to read.
original poster, I admire you for your ability to admit this (albiet anonymously. Being able to confront and expose the truth can be one of the most challenging acts in human nature.
And as much as I hate to admit it, I understand your sentiments exactly. Despite the widely-held "don't judge a book by its cover/ugly duckling" moral standard, the truth is that some people (myself included) find it very hard to overlook serious physical shortcomings unless there is already a sub-surface emotional bond formed. It is sad and some people may find it cruel and sick, but it is the truth, and as such is something we all have to live with. In a culture that worships appearance as much as we do, I don't know why this idea suprises or disturbs anyone more than injecting toxic substances into our bodies for the sake of beauty does (i.e. Botox and silicone)
Hm, if you think the majority of people don't find the injection of toxic substances into their bodies to be disturbing, I think you are seriously sheltered, or watch way too much TV for your own good.
Perhaps the reason you're looking for when you ponder the disturbance some may have to this train of though can be found in the concept of a "conscience". Suck it up.
Just because American sterotypes make us out to be a heartless, shallow culture and society doesn't mean you have to epitomize, perpetuate, or propogate it.
If you do feel as such, you shouldn't have to justify it using a "peer-acceptance" bandwagon generalization.
look people, this isn't a matter of the American mindset, it's a matter of biology. Males naturally seek out the females that they feel will produce the best offspring. That's how it works.
heck yeah person above me
yes. as the spirit of Mr. Darwin has so rightfully mentioned, this biological crutch is the best excuse we have to combat that alien race of "Fuglies"
To the original poster:
I wish I didn't know what you mean. But I do.
And yet at the same time I think "What if someone thought that about me?" God, that would suck.
Wow.
I have never seen such an intellectual conversation about ugly people...
I hope smart people think I am pretty...
...well, that just made me sound dumb.
