I have always been terrifyed that this will happen to me. I have liked the same girl forever but have been too shy to actually ask her out. Not a day goes by when I don't fear that someone will get to her first, but so far so good.

I really hate it when you start wanting to date a girl, and you believe she wants to date you as well. Then, when you finally work up the nerve to ask her out you find that the dreamy look in her eyes has been caused not by the sight of you, but by the memory of someone else.
Talk about getting shafted.
